HISTORICAL
The Romanian Orthodox Parish of Exeter was established in 2017, in response to the desire of Romanian believers in the south-west of England to live the liturgical life in an Orthodox spirit. Under the patronage of the Holy Venerable Olimpida – deaconess of the primary Church – and of Saint John the New of Suceava – patron of Moldova, the parish has operated in various locations, eventually settling in St Stephen's Church in the centre of Exeter.
Through the zeal of the parish priest and the active involvement of the faithful, the parish has become a place of communion and spiritual edification, where children, young people and adults gather around the Holy Mysteries, prayer and Romanian tradition. On holidays, but also every Sunday, the church is filled with prayerful voices, causing the seeds of a living and working faith to bear fruit in a foreign land through love.
